Diarrhoea means increased stool water (hence increase stool volume, ie.>200ml daily), and this increases stool frequency and the passage of liquid stool. Acute diarrheas are defined those of less 2 to 3 weeks and rarely 6 to 8 week's duration. The most common cause of acute diarrhoeas are infectious agents. Chronic diarrheas are those of at least 4 and, more usually, more than 6 to 8 weeks duration. Bloody diarrhea is called dysentery.
